TAS5751M: Interfacing Class D Amplifier (TAS5751M) with MCU

Hello Everyone,

I'm learning about TAS5751M Digital Amplifier and have few questions about interfacing it with a Micro-Controller.

According to my understanding, to interface TAS5751M with a micro-controller we need I2S peripheral (audio info) and I2C (programming). Apart from this, what are the other resources does a micro-controller need?

Like clock rate required and so on?

Hello,
For I2S input clock requirement, please refer to this wiki: e2e.ti.com/.../2425.i2s-clock-requirements-on-tas570x1x2x3x-device-s
Besids I2S and I2C input signal, MCU also needs to control RST and PDN during the device power-up and power-down. Please follow the timing requirement in the section 8.2.1.2 in the datasheet.

Another question, while using TAS5751M the MCU has to decode the audio format required by the module. What I mean is that, if I have a wav file that needs to be sent to speaker the MCU needs to handle all the conversions, there is no hardware module in the TAS5751M to decode the audio format and convert by itself.

Your understanding is correct. There is no decode resource inside the device.

The datasheet of TAS5751M module says that it supports 9-serial data modes and default being 24-bit I2S mode.

Does this mean the MCU has to provide the audio information in PCM format to the module? Or is there any other audio format that module would accept?

Yes, MCU has to provide PCM data by I2S interface. Please find more info about the input data format in section 7.6.2 in the datasheet.
