TAS2505: Audio Op Amp Selection

Part Number: TAS2505
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2521, , OPA322, LM4916

Hi team,

The customer needs to select an audio op amp. His requirements are as below:

1. VCC is 1.5V. He uses the button battery to power.

2. The Gain value should be set.

3. The input signal is the analog signal.

Can TAS2505 or TAS2521 meet the customer's requirements? If not, would you select a suitable device?

  • Hi Mickey,

If customer needs analog input I would better recommend other Class-D amps from TPA2xxxD1 family.
By "Gain value should be set" you mean that the device should have fixed gain?
What is the output power requirement? And what is the load impedance?
The supply voltage 1.5V is too low for Class-D amplifiers, these devices minimum supply is around 2.5V. I think the lowest voltage audio opamp is OPA322. Perhaps you can find a lower voltage opamp in the general purpose opamps.

  • Hi Ivan,

Thanks for your help. The customer will use LM4916. Can the volume be controlled for LM4916 ?
  • Mickey,

The gain of LM4916 is set through Rf and Ri. If you want to change the gain on the fly perhaps you can add a variable resistor.
