LM1877: TCA0372 replacement

Part Number: LM1877
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3111D1, TPA3137D2

Dear all,

Could we use LM1877 to replacement the TCA0372 or not?

If not, could you suggest more suitable IC to us?

The circuit as below,

Thanks!

  • Hi Julian Chen,

This device could be replaced by the LM1877.

  • Hi Julian,

As Jose mentioned, this looks feasible. But you need to know that this is a very old device, so the support for it will be limited. Please recommed our customers to use our class-d device(e.g. TPA3137D2, TPA3111D1).

    Best reaards,

    Shawn Zheng

  • Dear José Luis Figueroa,

    Thanks for your reply.

Could you let me know the description of bias pin?

In this case, should I use bias pin?

    Thanks!

  • Julian,

The bias pin should be connected to a capacitor of 50uF and it should be tied to GND according to with the datasheet.
I think that this capacitor is like a bypass capacitor. The bypass capacitors handle starting-up time of the device and reduce noise produced by the power supply.
Unfortunately, as Shawn mentioned is a very old device and the support for this device will be limited.
