TLV320AIC3100: DIN loopback mode

Part Number: TLV320AIC3100

hi there, I am implementing DIN->DOUT loopback mode and I want to verify the output I am getting on DOUT when I enable it.

channel 1 is looped back properly and you can see the samples emitted on DOUT a frame later. However channel 2 is altered. Is this a known issue? thanks!

  • Hi, Tyler,

The loopback feature of the 'AIC3100 consists in connecting the DOUT and DIN signals internally, there should be no effect on the signal data by the codec itself.

  • Tyler,

I was able to set up an EVM for test, and I provided a DIN signal by playing back an audio file from my PC.  Monitoring the I2S signals with a Saleae logic pro 8 similar to you

Initially I was also having issues where the DIN didn’t match the DOUT.  But I quickly noticed that this was only the decoded signals.  It appears that the Saleae software defaults to reading the data on the clock falling edge.  This is fine as long as the customer inverts the bclk (reg 29)  but if that isn’t necessary,  they should just change the analyzer settings.  I’ve attached an image of what I saw.  Everything looks good,  there is a delay in the data by one frame.
