TLV320AIC3204: Provide a clock to TLV320AIC3204 and TAS5766

Dear Expert,

There are TLV320AIC3204 and TAS5766 on my system. Is it possible to provide one clock source to both two device?

If it can, which clock frequency should I provide to both two device?

Hi, Ben,

Can you please clarify which is the clock source in question? if you are referring to the I²S bus, yes, it is possible to use the same bus for both parts, but the configuration and system integration will depend on which device will be the master in the bus.

The clock frequency is dependent on the sampling rate and device clocking specs.

I can help you with a clock recommendation but will need more details about the application and I²S bus architecture.

Hi Diego,

Sorry for this misunderstanding, we want to provide MCLK of 3204 and SCLK of 5766.
3204 is used in compensate external voice, and 5766 for driving speaker.
Per my understood, the clock input range have to meet spec of both device.
I would like to double confirm with you if there are any spec I should care about but I don't.

Hi, Ben,

Thanks for the clarification. The same clock can be used for both MCLK and SCLK, actually it is recommended that all the clocks for the audio devices are derived from the same master clock. As long as the clock frequency specs are met, there should be no problem.
