TAS5411-Q1: Question about the output power with Vin=5V

Hi team,

one of my customer has the below question:

what is the output power that TAS5411-Q1 can reach with 5Vdc in its input power supply?

Do we also have the graph about the input power voltage vs output power?

The requirement is to have an analog input class-D audio amplifier able to be supplied by 5Vdc, with an output power of minimum 8W and maximum 15W.

Is the TAS5411-Q1 able to do that? Or do you have any other recommendation?

    Massimiliano,

    The one missing part of the equation is the load impedance.  Is this a 4 ohm or 2 ohm load?

    With a 5Vdc supply, the maximum unclipped power into a 4 ohm load is: 3W.  The 10% THD rating is about 3.7W.

    With a 5Vdc supply, the maximum unclipped power into  a 2 ohm load is 6W.  The 10% THD rating is about 7.4W.

    The TAS5411-Q1 is not limited by current is limited by the voltage in this case.  The TAS5411-Q1 will not meet your 15W maximum specification as it it current limited and will only provide about 12W.  To reach your necessary specification of 8W minimum into a 4 ohm load, an unclipped signal would require about a 9.5Vdc power supply.

    Would it be possible to have the graphic with the relation between the power supply voltage and the output power liki in other datasheets of other audio amplifiers please?

    Ok thank you very much Gregg. Don't worry if you don't have it, I don't need all the data. I am only interested in knowing the output power for 12Vdc of input power supply, for a load of 8ohm and a load of 4ohm. Maybe can I have only this data please?

    HI Sara,

    I measured the power into 4 ohms and 8 ohms with a power supply of 12Vdc using a 1kHz sinewave for testing.

    4 ohms
    The power is limited by the over current shutdown (OCSD)  The output power is about 10.6W just before the OCSD trips and places the outputs into Hi-Z and starts running load diagnostics and attempts to turn on with repeated shutdowns due to over current.

    8 ohms
    The OCSD does not trigger into 8 ohms with a 12Vdc supply.
    the power is 7.6W at 1% THD
    the power is 9.3W at 10%THD
