TLV320AIC3204: Supply current spec of IOVDD & HPVDD

Hi there,

My customer's asking about the supply current required for IOVDD and HPVDD as they're calculating the power consumption.

I couldn't find these data in the datasheet but I think these must have been measured during validation.

Could you please provide me with these data?

    The power consumption data we have available for this device is included in the 'AIC3204 Applications Reference Guide, please refer to sections 2.5.2 and 2.5.3.

    Would you be able to give us some idea of how the current consumption can be calculated?

    Regarding HPVDD, I consider it as the supply of the headphone driver so I'm taking the highlighted value in the picture below.

    Is that appropriate?

    Regarding IOVDD, it seems a bit tricky according to the description below.

    And it doesn't seem to be related to ADC, either.

    Therefore, could you please give us some idea on how the power consumption looks like?

    Or, in other words, what would be the power budget you would recommend for AIC3204?

    Hi, Roy,

    The power data from HPVDD can be considered as you pointed out, however you need to also consider the recording data if the ADC is being used (section 2.5.2 or ARG). IOVDD consumption can be considered negligible as the current demanded is quite small, a typical value that you can  consider for the IOVDD current is about 20µA for playback and 60µA for recording.
