TAS5766MDCAEVM: PurePath Console 3 Hangs on "Updating Components" - Both for Learning Board and TAS5766M EVM

Part Number: TAS5766MDCAEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5766M

When you attempt to access the EVM or Learning Board, the PurePath Console 3 application hangs at the "Updating Components" step:

This happens with both the Learning and TAS5766M EVM boards. This effectively renders the environment unusable.

There is another similar post by Gareth Wooding and the problem he describes is seemingly identical to the one we're experiencing - this was a recent post under the title of:

TAS5766MRMTEVM: Pure Path Console 3 Hangs on "Updating Components"

Unlike Gareth, I don't have an unpatched Windows 10 device. I am running the current Windows 10 Pro release on a 64-bit host.

Are any patches available to the PurePath Console 3 application or any of the Java/Matlab runtime libraries that it may use? Under the present circumstances, we're unable to use the learning board and dev modules to do productive work. With that said, it *IS* possible to run the system checks and calibrate the gain on/in/for the boards, etc.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in helping us to resolve this issue. We have uninstalled and reinstalled on multiple current/up-to-date Windows 10 devices and we are unable to get past this particular error.

  • Hi John,
We are looking into this and Andy will get back to you later. Thanks for your patience!
  • Hello Shawn & Andy - I pulled out an older notebook, still Windows 10 (Home vs. Pro, though...), and watched the install. I noticed that .Net 3.5 Framework was used/required. This notebook failed to automatically install it (it hung in process), but I was able to download and install the .Net 3.5 Framework by using the installer available for download on the Microsoft Downloads site. With this, I was able to complete the Speaker Characterization step on the learning board and it dumped me into the "Tuning" task/section without error. I am attempting to see if the .Net 3.5 manual install trick will work on my Windows 10 Pro device and will report back. I have not been able to test all modules/applications, but will do so and share what I find/learn.
  • Hi John,

Try a Windows 7 machine if possible. I have heard some weird issues in Windows 10 machines for PPC3.

  • Hi, Andy-san,

Now, our customer is getting into the same trouble. When can TI solve this problem?

    Best regards,

    Akio Ito

  • Hi Akio,

Could you please post anther question in e2e? Try to give us as many details as possible.

I will close this thread so that we can focus on the issue from your customer in another thread.
