Audio Codec with USB interface and Linux driver support?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3109-Q1, TLV320AIC3104-Q1

Hello all,

I am looking for an industrial temp. range single or dual audio codec with USB and Linux driver support. Performance requirements are rather minimal (8 or 16 Ksps, 16-bit resolution, differential microphone interface with PGA, line output). Obviously there is not a single-chip solution for this purpose but I hope there is at least a simple (but proven) MCU + Codec combination that fullfils my requirements. Robust Linux support is the most important parameter. A similar (although overspecified for my purpose) device on Analog Device's portfolio is SSM2604.

Is there anything in TI's portfolio that fullfills these requirements?

Thank you in advance

  • Hi, Dimitrios,

From the codec point of view, it seems you need a simple device capable of meeting the mentioned temperature range. Maybe you can take a look to the TLV320AIC3104-Q1 stereo, or TLV320AIC3109-Q1 mono, audio codecs. These devices are qualified for automotive temperature ratings which goes from –40°C to 85°C and –40°C to 105°C respectively.

Currently we are no supporting Linux driver integration for our audio codecs, we have a couple drivers that could be used as reference for these parts, please take a look to this e2e wiki.

I would recommend you to ask my colleagues on the Microcontrollers forum for the best MCU recommendation for your application.

  • Diego, thank you very much for the answer. I will discuss it with my colleagues.
