Hi Expert,

If I want to design 12*MIC, can I use one I2S TDM to achieve it? What's the maximum channels in one TDM?

    Hi, Jerry,

    The PCM1864 is able to operate in TDM mode; when this format is used, the bit clock should have a frequency of 256×Fs, this value is fixed for this device. Given that said, the number of channels available on the TDM stream is determined by the data size, for example, if 32-bit word length is used, up to eight channels would be available. For your application, 12 channels would be possible if the data length is set to 20 or 16 bits. One thing to note is that the PCM1864 has only two available I²C address combinations, so if you are planning to use three devices to get twelve channels, an I²C bridge will be required.
