TAS5630DKD2 Evaluation Module 0 Ohm resistors

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA1632, TAS5630

Hi,

can you tell me what is the exact purpose of those 0Ω resistors placed in the circuit before OPA1632 of the TAS5630DKD2 Evaluation Module. Are those resistors same as jumpers or is it possible that 0Ω resistors are used as very small inductors?

Also, capacitors C14-C17 are not oriented in the same way as those capacitors in datasheet schematics? I presume that those caps in the datasheet are placed incorrectly? That again, I think that capacitors CC66, C69, C70 and C71 in the Evaluation Module are also placed in the wrong way?

Thank you for the help.

Best regards,

Nikola

  • Nikola,

Those were just put as place-holders in case we wanted to put a LPF on the input w/C67 and C68.

You can ignore them if you don't want this input LPF.

  • Ok I understand, thank you for the answer.

But what about the mentioned orientation of the capacitors?

    Regards,

    Nikola

  • Nikola, TAS5630 inputs are biased positive from ground, around 1.2Vdc, and in the data sheet we do not assume any DC bias from the source, because most sources (MP3 player, AVR, function generator, etc) are biased about ground.  So the positive terminals of these caps are connected to TAS5630 inputs.

In the EVM the sources to TAS5630 inputs, the outputs of OPA1632, are biased at 6Vdc, so they are positive with respect to TAS5630 inputs.  So in the EVM the positive terminals of these caps must be connected to OPA1632.

    Best regards,

    Steve.
