TLV320DAC3101: DRC HPF and LPF

Hi

Could you please explain how DRC high-pass and low-pass filter work?

According to explanation from datasheet P.36, the cutoff of high-pass filter is 0.00166 x DAC_fs, and low-pass is 0.00033 x DAC_fs in default.
If fs is 48KHz, cutoff for high-pass would be 79.68Hz and low-pass would be 15.84Hz.

However, cutoff would be 4Hz for high-pass and 8Hz for low-pass if calculation is based on reset value from Table 6-3.

Which calculation is correct? And how does these filter work in device operation?

BestRegards

  • Hi Na Na,

You should consider the register table default values as the correct ones. However it is recommended to leave the DRC filter coefficients as the default values for a better performance across different sampling rates. The DRC filters are used for the energy estimation function and audio frequency range is not related to this function.
