TPA3255: Dual TPA3255 used in parallel with PBTL Mode

Part Number: TPA3255

Hi,

Is TPA3255 allowed to use in parallel with PBTL Mode in order to get more transmit power (Use 2pcs TPA3255 in parallel to get 1000W power) ?

and why can't  efficiency of TPA3255 achieve 96%?

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Derek,
We are looking into this and will get back to you later.
  • Hi Wang,

After some testing I have evidence that when 2 TPA3255's are in PBTL and then in parallel with each other, you still cannot get more than 600W out total. This is because once you pass 600W, there are instances where one device is the complete current sink, which causes the OC shutdown. Once one device shuts down, the other device is not the sole path to ground, and its OC protection trips.

Therefore I do not believe it is possible to use 2 PBTL TPA3255's in parallel to get above 600W.
