TPA3251: How to minimize Start-up Time on TPA3251

Hi team,

I ahve a customer that is using the TPA3251 and is seeing start up times of 350ms. Are there any tricks to help reduce the delay between power up and the power stage to start switching?

Jarrett,

This time is used for setup internal to the device and charging of the input and output caps, unfortunately it is fixed and cannot be changed.

Which mode is the customer using the device? (BTL/SE/PBTL)

We are using BTL mode.

Jarrett,

Using SE mode takes a little longer to start up vs. BTL since SE mode has additional output caps to charge. Are you using the EVM?

If so, a small amount of time can be saved by removing J21 (CSTART jumper) which removes the added 0.47uF cap which gets charged for the non-fixed startup time.
