TPA3128D2: How to set PLIMIT?

Part Number: TPA3128D2

Hi, Sir,

If i use 2pcs TPA3128D2, Spec is 2x30W & 2x15W, 4 ohm speaker, PVCC=24V,

Du you have any suggest for my Plimit config?

R to GND? R to GVDD? PLIMIT Voltage & Output Voltage? thanks!

  • Hi Ray,
PLIMIT function is a rough protect on the speakers. You could use the formula on the page 16 in the datasheet for the calculation of the voltage on PLIMIT pin. Let's take an example for 30W@10% THD and 4Ohm load. The Pout(unclipped) = 30/1.25 = 24W. Rs includes Rdson, inductor DCR and speaker wire resistance. Assume Rs=140mOhm, Vp is calculated by the formula and Vp=14.83V. Then Vplimit = ~ Vp/4 = 3.7V. This result depends a lot on the real applicaiton(inductor DCR, cable resistance.....). Select the appropriate two resistors to divide the GVDD volatge to make the voltage on the PLIMIT around 3.7V. Please refer to more detailed explanation in the section 7.3.4 and our EVM is a good expample: www.ti.com/.../slou457.pdf
