PCM3168A: Need PCM3168A EVM

Part Number: PCM3168A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01454, TIDEP-0099, PCM1864, PCM3168

It's May 2018.  Is an EVM for PCM3168A available yet?

If not, when do you think it may be available?

Thanks

  • Hi, Igor,

Unfortunately the EVM for the PCM3168A is not available yet, but we should get it done shortly. In the meantime, could you please share information about your target application?

  • Hi Diego,

    Thanks for your reply.

I need a daughter card like the PCM1864-Based Circular Microphone Board in TIDA-01454 project, but with more microphones (at least 12). So it seemed that PCM3168A would be a suitable candidate since it has 6 ADCs.

BTW, where can I find source code files for projects (TIDEP-0099, for example)?
    www.ti.com/.../tidep-0099

    Thanks

    Sincerely yours,
    Igor Djokovic
  • Hi, Igor,

Two PCM3168s might be used to capture the data of 12 mics, however, please consider that this device is not very flexible and it is not possible for two devices to share the same TDM bus, because there is no way to control the offset of the digital audio. As two audio buses would be required, I think that a better solution would be 3×PCM1864. This device is more flexible and there is an EVM available, as well as the reference design for a circular mic array application.

I am unaware of the files location, I would recommend you to ask with my colleagues of the Processor's forum to find more details about the source files for the project.

  • Hi Diego,

Thanks for getting back to me promptly. I was looking at PCM1864 and seemed suitable, but then I came across PCM3168 and thought it might be better. Thanks for pointing out the lack of flexibility of PCM3168.

    Best regards,
