TLV320AIC34: About TLV320AIC34's schematic design.

Part Number: TLV320AIC34

Hi, I have post a question in  e2e.ti.com/.../684677.

But now I have another question,  I now use the TLV320AIC34 to achieve 4-channel mono audio output, but many designs like AM335x output stereo audio. This will occupy two DACs and will not achieve the effect of 4 channels mono audio output.

If one DAC route to one channel mono audio, how to designe the schematic? Should HPLOUT_A, HPLOUT_B, HPROUT_A, HPROUT_B be connected to a Stereo jack, Other HPLCOM_A, etc. hanging unconnect? And the HPLOUT_A connect to the Stereo jack's L and R for mono audio output?

best regards!

-yang.

  • Yang,

The TLV320AIC34 is pretty flexible in terms of the data/audio routing. for example: Page 0, register 7, D1-D4. These assign the left and right DAC data. you can choose left, right, or a mono mix of both as the Data input to either DAC.

If you only want to use one DAC, you can route this to HPLOUT or HPROUT or both. and use it in AC coupled Single ended mode. you could also run these as differential DC-coupled outputs... this is entirely up to you.

The McASP in the AM355x is more flexible than only allowing stereo audio. you can use TDM audio and have two completely unrelated audio channels.

Im not sure if that answers your question or not. please let me know if I can be of more assistance.
