TPA3136D2: Disable Fault Function

Part Number: TPA3136D2

Hi,

is there a way to disable the fault pin function on TPA3136D2?

see that the minimum differential input voltage required to trigger the DC detec is 130mV.

That means, if i have a 1kHz sine wave at 200mV Amplitude it will trigger the DC detec?

Is there a way to disable it or to increase this value?

My problem is that my output volume is too low and i have to increase the input amplitude.

But the 'FAULT' is connected to 'EN' and is shutting the IC down.

Why cant he handle higher amplitudes?(Should i increase the capacitor on inputs?)

Here is my schematic:

  • Hi Michael,
Generally DC FAULT shouldn't be triggered by 1kHz input signal, because it only detects DC signal or less than 2Hz frequnecy signal. And unfortunately there is no way to disable this feature. You can try to use lower input capacitors(e.g 0.1uF) to see if the fault issue is fixed.
Are you using a load? Does the issue still occur even though the load is open? How much load resistance are you using? WIth 5V PVCC, the OC current is around 2.5A. Please make sure the output current is far away from this THR to avoid OC FAULT. Did you measure the temperature on the device? Make sure your thermal design is good enough and the OC FAULT is not triggered.
    Best regards,
    Shawn Zheng
  • Hi Shawn,

yes i am using 4 Ohm Speaker at each output.
So i change the input condensator to 1nF and that helped!
