SRC4382: SRC4382 application

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you.

We have to use two I2S source into SRC chip , but not really sure the SRC4382 is the correct chip for our project.

SRC4382 have two channels, may i know which one is correct?

(1)pin37-40, one is AUDIO sample rate  in/out; pin45-48 is another AUDIO sample rate  in/out

(2)Pin37-40 is input , pin45-48 is output

    SRC4382 has two audio serial ports, Port A and Port B. Both ports are 4-wire synchronous serial interfaces, supporting simultaneous input and output operation. As a result, you can configure the device to have both scenarios configured, although there may not be a real use-case scenario.

    You can either use this device to have one as input and other port as output and route the audio stream via SRC to up/down sample OR take I2S steam and convert the sampling freq and output it as S/PDIF in most common use case scenarios.

    Can you please let me know your overall system block diagram to allow me to further assist you identify the right part? Thanks.

    We need two I2S SOURCE into SRC4382 at same time then output to FPGA.

    So could you help check SRC4382 is suitable solution or not? 

    If not, have others solution can share?

    As you said,

    We would like to know can we configure as below block diagram through SRC4382?

    SRC4382 could meet spec as below?

    PortA input is 48KHZ , PortA could output 32-192KHZ directely

    PortB inpus is 48KHZ , PortB could ourput 32-192KHZ directely

    The SRC4392 doesn't have any TDM capability, and only supports 2 channels, so your first diagram is not possible. you cant have two simultaneous inputs to one port.

    Your second diagram is of course possible, Its important to realize that The I2S in and Out for port A will always have the same sampling rate.
    as will the input and output for port B.

    for example, it is possible for port A to be at 48Khz, and port B to be set to 192khz, and they would be able to pass audio back and forth, but not simultaneously, as there are only 2 channels of SRC in this device.

    does that make sense?

    Do you have any follow-up questions about using the SRC4382 for this use case? As Steve mentioned in the earlier note, the second block diagram is very much possible to be configured using the SRC device but the input/output sampling rate has to be the same as noted by Steve.

    If this use case does not require sample rate conversion, you should be able to use SRC4382 for the system outlined in second diagram.
