Need help finding the best stereo audio ADC for my project.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1862

Hello,

I need a stereo audio ADC for my project. It should support at least 96KHz sample rate, 16 bit word length and spi communication. I need a spi communication because i don't have mapped all the I2S bus pins to the output of the development board. Also the package of the chip should not be bga so it'll easier for me to solder the boards.

Can anyone recommend me  an ADC with those specifications ?

Thank you.

Regards,

Ing. Gastón Vallasciani

  • Hi, Gaston,

I assume you need SPI interface for control, right?. If so, we have a couple audio ADCs  which can meet your requirements, depending on the complexity of your\system and power specification. The PCM1862 could be a good option, this part is a high performance audio ADC with SPI interface option for control. Package is a 30 pin TSSOP which might not be complicated to solder.

If you need SPI interface to send the digital audio data, then I am afraid we do not have an ADC capable of supporting that as our devices support PCM (I²S, LJ, RJ) format for the digital audio only. Are you okay with adjusting the SPI data to be compatible with PCM data?, if so, we have an app note which could be useful for your implementation.

  • Hi, Diego,

Thank you for your answer, i need the spi communication for sending the audio signal because i am using a development board which haven't mapped all the pin out of the microcontroler  to the borniers.

In the project i need to aqcuire an audio signal (frec 96khz, Resol an least 16 bit), do some processing on it an then generate it with a dac. Can you recommend me a lo cost development kit with an ARM m4 microcontroller  for this kind of application ?

    Best Regards,

    Gastón

  • Hi, Gaston,

Thanks for the feedback. If that is the case with the audio interface, I'm afraid the only help we have is the document i pointed out before. Unfortunately, I am not aware f a processor or development kit with those characteristics. Perhaps someone from the E2E community can recommend a development kit for your application.
