TAS2505: Typical current limit value

Hi, Team,

I found there is current limit in TAS2505, but no typical current limit value is marked in datasheet.

Could you confirm the current limit value?

Hi Johnny,

What supply rail you would like to know the active current? If its for the headphone or speaker drivers it would depend on the signal that is being played and the load impedance.

The power voltage is 5V, the speaker is 4ohm and 8ohm.

Johnny,

The Class-D driver can go up to 700mA on SPKVDD for 4ohm, with a full scale input signal and max gain settings; this does not trigger the protection, though.
For the Class-D driver the protection is focused on short circuits on the load.

Do you mean even the current reach 700mA, over current protection will not be triggered?

How about over current limit for 8ohm speaker?

Johnny,

Yes, that did not trigger the protection. The device is still operating although the signal might be heavily distorted due to saturation.
The current for 8ohm will be lower as the impedance is higher.
Note that this is only for Class-D driver, Headphone driver has a different protection scheme.
