PCM2900C: PCM2900C

Part Number: PCM2900C

In windows 10  the PCM2900C device is recognized as USB AUDIO CODEC which is the decriptor string. The manual states that it can be changed, but you need to contact a TI representative.

Is it possible to reprogram the device with another name? I would be adding serveral PCM2900C dvices to one computer. Windows adds indexes but it is not clear which device is which. The enumeration cycle might not always be the same as well.

We would arrive with computers where  eg. "1 USB AUDIO CODEC" is used for speaker module and  "2 USB AUDIO CODEC" is used for another for the handset. On other pc's t can be switche : 1 USB AUDIO CODEC" : handset and  "2 USB AUDIO CODEC"  speaker.

  • Hi, Gert,

Welcome to E2E, Thanks for your interest in our products.

The mention you make is correct as the PCM2900C does have a fixed descriptor. The note about the change on the descriptor was actually removed for the C version, as that is no longer supported. If you don't need the ADC part of the codec, we have some USB-DACs which actually have an option to change the descriptor.
