I have a question about TPA3128D2

About the output power, there are some different values at the datasheet.

1. at feature : 2 * 30W into a 8 ohm at 24V

2. at AC Electrical Char. : 30W into RL = 4 ohm, PVcc = 21V

3. at Figure 11 and Figure 12

 

Let me know below.

1. 8 ohm at 24V : output power = ?

2. 4 ohm at 24V : output power = ?

3. What is the max. output power with 4 ohm at 24V?

    Sam,
    We can find these data from Figure 11 and 12. In the Figure 11 in the datasheet, you can see that the instaneous max output power is around 32.5W with 1% THD and 40W with 10% THD fo 24V/8Ohm. For 24V/4Ohm, they are around 56W and 70W. Pleae be noted that this is the instaneous output power not the continuous output. The instaneous max output power is usually limited by the linearity/THD or PVCC voltage as soon as the OC THR is not exceeded. While the continuous output power is limited by the thermal performance, which is actually a system level performance. So for different application design, the continuous output could be very different.
