OPA1679: single-ended to differential ouput

Part Number: OPA1679
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL974, RC4580

Hi team,

My customer would like to have a 4 channel op amplifier to convert a single-ended audio signal to a differential signal, the target application is the automotive head unit.

For opa1679, do you have any plan to release 125C version? From the datasheet, 85C is guaranteed.

Another option is TL974, however, its THD+N performance is higher. Do you have some other recommendations (cost sensitive application)?

Thanks.

  • Hi Dongbao,
There is not an automotive-qualified or 125°C rated OPA1679 at present. You might want to consider RC4580 as an alternative.
  • Hi Davis,

For OPA1679, the ambient temp is 85C, what about the recommend junction temp of this device? How about TL974 in this application?

Customer would like to SNR great than 95db in this application, could you let me know how to evaluate? Thanks.

  • Hi Dongbao,
The recommended operating temperature in the datasheet refers to the conditions over which the specified performance can be expected. This characterization is typically done under quiescent conditions (i.e. minimal power dissipation in the device), so I would expect a recommended junction temperature of around 85°C to achieve specified performance.

    TL974 would be another possibility.

SNR will depend on the customer's input signal level and configured gain for the device.
