RC4580: Maximum Output Load Capacitance

Part Number: RC4580
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, OPA627

Hi,

Could you please tell me the maximum output load capacitance with the voltage follower configuration for RC4580 ?
* e.g. : ~100pF without a seriese resistor

Best regards,
Kato

  • Hi Sadanori,

    it's hard to say because the datasheet does not contain enough information for a phase stability analysis and there's no TINA-TI simulation file either. But when comparing with similar OPAmps I would say no more than 100...200pF.

    The RC4580 is not designed to drive heavy capacitive loads. It's an audio OPAmp made for applications where you can easily add an output series resistance to isolate any capacitive load. Even resistances in the 10R can considerably help to prevent instability. Or you can use the phase lead compensation method shown in figure 32 of datasheet of OPA627.
