TAS1020 USB to AC97 interface

Dear all,

On a new board, I search one way to interface one AC97 audio codec with one host pc by USB. I take a look on the TAS1020 and I think it can make that.

but if I connect the TAS1020 to an AC97 codec, can I access to all functions of the codec with its driver (provide by the AC97 vendor) or must I write some driver or application for the TAS1020 ?

In fact, is it possible to make the TAS1020 transparent USB to AC97 interface for the OS (windows or linux) ?

Hi Matthieu,

I believe the code in the FDK that is provided in here (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/tas1020fdk.html) is set up for AC'97. The functions supported by the native driver of the OS (e.g. Windows) depends on the OS and how it complies with the USB Audio Class specification. The routines inside the TAS1020 code must be written to be compatible with the audio codec hardware (i.e. translate USB requests into codec commands for re-configuration).
