PCM9211: PCM9211

Part Number: PCM9211
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SRC4392, SRC4382

Dear Sir,

Just want to confirm if PCM9211 provide sampling rate converter for SPDIF-in.

For example, if SPDIF-in signal is 96Khz sampling rate, can it convert to fixed 48Khz output.

I know PCM9211 ADC can set sampling rate for output , but how about SPDIF (DIR/DIT)?

Thanks, Ian.

  • Hi Ian,

As far as the PCM9211 goes, it has DIR/DIT blocks in addition to the integrated ADC block. And the DIR/DIT blocks provide the functionality of Digital Interface RX and TX only and do not do any sample rate conversion.

If SRC is required for a given application, I would think that Combo SRC (SRC4382) or High-end Combo SRC (SRC4392). The SRC43xx is a two-channel asynchronous sample rate converter (SRC) with an integrated digital audio interface receiver(DIR) and transmitter(DIT). Compared to PCM9211, the only block that is missing is the integrated ADC but you will have an ability to up-sample or down-sample depending on your application requirements.

Hope this clarifies your query. Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ravi
