PCM2900: Can PCM2900 play audio directly from usb flash drive with out computer?

Hi I have a basic question.

I am designing a usb audio player circuit. Will this pcm2900 able to play a music file from a usb flash drive, with out a computer involvement.

I am expecting as soon as i plug in the u disc the music files on the disc should start playing.

If not please suggest other similar ic from TI, do this job. thank you.

    Hi, Ravi,

    Welcome to E2E, Thanks for your interest in our products!

    The PCM2900 is a USB-Audio codec which is capable of interface with a USB host device for audio playback or recording applications. Unfortunately this device is meant to  operate with a host system as slave, so it cannot be the USB host.

    We do not have an IC which makes this directly, so you will need to use a dedicated processor to read the data and send it to the playback device.
