PCM1862: 192 kHz, 1ch configuration of PCM1862

Part Number: PCM1862

Hi, Team,

Could you please let us know whether we can use PCM1862 like "192 kHz x 1 ch x 32 bit (or decrease the bit number from 32 to 16 bit?)"?

The customer is using digital MIC(Max 3.072MHz) and the customer want to set the sampling frequency to 192 kHz. As usual, we think that it needs 6.144 MHz with 192 kHz × 2 ch × 32 bit.

Best Regards,
Satoshi Yone

  • Hi Satoshi-san,

PCM186x is designed to support DMICs only up to 96kHz as outlined in the DS.

Can I please request additional information as to why the customer is looking at such high sampling rate for audio capture (mostly voice) thro DMICs? As mentioned in the DS, in most cases 32kHz or 44.1kHz sampling rate should suffice and hence it's the recommended values.

Please let me know if this clarifies things and the customer should be able to use PCM186x to interface w DMICs. Thanks again.

    Best regards,
    Ravi
