LM1875: Does LM1875 can be support BTL use?

Part Number: LM1875
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3251, , TPA3116D2, TPA3118D2

Hi Support

The customer wants to use the TPA3251 PBTL for bass output 100W4 ohms, and two LM1875 BTL for midrange output, see attached picture. It is required to output 40W power with 4-ohm impedance and same voltage power from the TPA3251. Can the LM1875 support the BTL with 4-ohm impedance?

  • Hi Seven,

Technically there is no obvious problem in this usage under ideal condition. But in a real application, the mismatch between the two devices or differential input signal/routin could impact the performance. Actually this kind of application is not quite widely used as far as I know, so I can't guantee the reliability and stability.

This device is quite old, why not consider our newer class-d device, e.g. TPA3118D2/TPA3116D2? They can support BTL mode and PBTL quite well.

    Best regards,

    Shawn Zheng
