TLV320AIC3254: Master Mode Question

Hi Expert,

In EVM, remove R21 and R22, used TAS1020B MCLK and DIN. After run the below code, sometimes can get right sound, but sometimes not.

If got the wrong sound,  after adjusted the data offset, it can get right sound. And I measure MCLK and BCLK, I found BCLK will shift when I executed the code, every time is difference.

Can you help to check it? Thanks!

    By removing the mentioned resistors, you are isolating the BCLK and WCLK of the AIC3254 from the TAS1020B interface, which is the bridge with USB audio. The DIN from the TAS1020B is aligned with the BCLK and WCLK of TAS1020B, not the codec clocks. If you connect DIN from TAS1020B to the codec under this configuration, the audio will not be synchronized and you will get erroneous data on the analog output of the codec.  

    By adding offset, this may be fixed and "correct"audio may be heard, but in general the audio signal will not be appropriate as audio bus synchronization is not properly done.

    The TAS1020B device will always act as master of I²S bus, so it is not possible to test the AIC3254 as master with the TAS1020B on the same bus. You will need an external digital audio interface to test the AIC3254 as master.

    But MCLK is from TAS1020B to AIC3252. So, TAS1020B MCLK and Dout are not aligned, right?

    Right, the DOUT from the TAS1020B will not be aligned with the codec clocks given the same configuration is used.
