TAS2505 can use in doorbell?

Part Number: TAS2505
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3101, TAS2555, TAS2557, TLV320DAC3101, TLV320DAC3100

Hi team,

do you have recommendation in Doorbell? the spec as below:

1. Vpp=5V

2. Power 2W or 3W

3. I2S input

4. Low cost

I recommend customer to use TLV320AIC3101, but it supply voltage is 3.3V AVDD? I also found the TAS2505 or TAS2555, do they can use in this application?

or do you have other suggestions or solutions?

thank you

  • Hi Betty,

TAS2505 is a good option. Output power would depend on the speaker impedance but it can do 2W into 4-ohm
TAS2555 is a smartamp. It provides higher output power and also it has integrated audio processing to enhance audio quality and it can also run speaker protection algorithms. If you want to go for a smartamp I would suggest TAS2557 as it is the most recent device, similar to TAS2555 but it has additional features like psychoacoustic bass and 3-band DRC.

  • Hi Ivan,

Thanks for your reply. In my opinion, customer needn't smart amp for it is very complex. I will recommend customer use TAS2505. By the way, how about the codec IC 3101?
    thank you
  • Betty,

TLV320AIC3101 is a codec, so it also has ADC function. If you need the ADC to send mic data into the host it would be good option.
If ADC is not needed, you could go for TLV320DAC3101 which is similar but it only features the DAC side. This is a good option in case you would need stereo instead of mono output. Although the trade-off is that it can only drive 8-ohm loads at 1.29W.

So if you need mono output you could consider TAS2505 or TLV320DAC3100.
If stereo is needed, then TLV320DAC3101 would be the one.
