PurePath Studio changes parameter randomly

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS3204

Hello,

i use PPS1.88B3, and on two computers i have  a big problem with the process flows from purepath-studio. By saving and loading an flow, the .pfw-file will be destroyed randomly.

The temporary errors are:

Forgot the connections between the components.

Changes the I2C adresses of the components randomly.

Change the coeffizient of the biquad randomly (i.e. B0 from 1,0 to 1,5, or chnage the Q-Faktor)
Sometimes, the coeffizents changes by open and close the biquad GUI. If the parameter coruppted (B0 = 1,5), i only press "aplay" in the biquad GUI and the are correct.

If i compile the flow, the result is heavy noise and bumps.

I think all errors have the same reason, but i can´t resolved them. Have anybody an idea?

Kind regards

Frank

  • Frank,

This seems related to the system setup on your computer(s).  What is the OS that you are running on your computers? Also - see the release notes to determine the software requirements. Also, please check to see which 'Window's Culture' you are operating in. The Biquad GUI only supports a limited number of Windows Cultures, with English-US as the default.

  • Hi Drew,

i run PPS on 4 computers, there i have no errors. It runs on my old laptop (XP, SP3), my new Laptop (Vista Ultimate), my Desktop at work (XP, SP3) and my private Desktop (Windows7 Ultimate). Four computers, three different windows, no problems.

Then the to laptops with problems: An old (6 Years) IBM Thinkpad with XP and an new Asus EEE-PC with XP. Both with XP SP3. If i work with one of this, our DSP amplifier shot the speaker cone to the orbit ;-)

    I´m clueless.....

    Frank

  • Frank,

Sorry to hear about your speaker. I agree with you that does sound strange that it would work on 4 computers, but then somehow not on the other two. It's hard to say based upon my view of the information if it's related to PurePath Studio or not.

Is if safe to say that on one of the 4 working computers (or all of them), you can sucessfully use the program without the artifacts that are causing your orbital speaker cone?.

  • Hi Drew,

i´m dont worry about the speakers, all poor test speakers. But now we want to measure vehicle specific systems with expensive speakers, so i want to resolve the probs.

Yes, on the 4 working computers PPS runs sucsessfull without artifacts. Only the 2 computers are obsessed from a ghost.

Have you ever heard about this problems by an older version? Then i can go back to the 1.78. Or do you know about an new release of PPS?

    Kind regards

    Frank

  • Hi Frank,

I've heard of issues with integration into Windows 7 / issues with Vista - however nothing this major on XP.

What TAS3x device are you working on?  PPS has a known TAS3204 bug  [Reference: forum post.]

All other TAS3x devices do not have this issue. This fix will be addressed in the next release, but the workaround does resolve this. Trade off is EEPROM space, but with a bit of elbow grease this can be cut down.

The next patch will resolve this. Look for it on the TAS3x-PurePath Studio Extranet by the end of 2010.

The only other issue I can see where it would cause this is related to the supported Window cultures, but given that it doesn't happen on the other 4 computers I'm not convinced this is the case (I assume you have installed the same Culture settings on all your machines, but this is just an assumption, so let me know if I am incorrect).

In regards to older Version of PurePath Studio -  As with all software each version is not perfect , but many of the bugs have been resolved with 1.88 Build 3, which we released ~ 1 year a go or so. Have you tried to upgrade?

If you are going to revert back to any previous releases, I would recommend 1.74 over 1.78, but reverting to and older version will of course remove a lot of bug fixes / additional features.

Let us know your progress / any updates so we can help close this issue.

  • Hi Drew,

sorry for my late response. In many test´s i can´t verify or resolve the problems. Absolutly random on two computers, all other computers work fine.

So i work with the propper systems and still wait for the new release of PPS.

    Thanks for your time,

    Kind regards

    Frank
