TPA3116D2: SYNC function

Part Number: TPA3116D2

Hello.

We want to know what is the function of R73 and C41 on the TPA3116 SYNC pin?

  • Hi AJ,
SYNC works as an output pin in master mode and input pin in slave mode. Clock is running from the upper device to the lower device to sync the two amps. The RC circuit is used to improve the clock integrity on the board.

  • Hi Shawn,
I am also using this part and from what I can see the SYNC output signal is in the 100's of kHz. Isn't 1nF in series with 10k a little high for a clock of that speed? We are seeing issues with the circuit above, the 2nd unit is having difficulty synchronizing to the first and there is significant noise in the ~100kHz range on the output. When we remove the cap (C41), the part operates as expected without the noise on the output. Any insight into what the value of this cap should be?
    Thanks,
    Frank
  • Hi Frank,
You are correct that the cap value in the SCH is too high - this is a typo in the datasheet, the unit should be pF.
If there is anything unclear, please creat a new post and let's communicate there. Thank you!
    Best regards,
