TPA2013D1: TPA2013D1 shutdown pop

Part Number: TPA2013D1

Hi

I am using a TPA2013D1 in an application and controlling the amplifier by connecting both the SDD and SDB shutdown pins together and controlling them from my micro.

My issue is that whenever i place the amplifier into shutdown, i get a large click or pop at the speaker. The speaker is a 8R 10W speaker.

The amplifier is fed from the output of a DAC which plays a wav file. I have tried leaving the output of the DAC constant for a while before shutting down the amplifier, but the problem still appears.

Is there anything else i can try to eliminate the pop?

Thanks

  • Hi Chris,

We always recommend setting a low volume or don't send an input signal if this is possible when the shutdown pins are asserted. Something that could help to reduce the pop noise is the input capacitors selection, so Which values are you using? and Could you provide me a schematic of your application?
