TAS5805M: The PVDD Cap question

Part Number: TAS5805M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5805

Dear Support

PVDD is 15VIN and output speak is 4Ohm,10W each, about 20W application on TAS5805

But the PVDD cap is 390uF it's too big on the PCB

Could you tell me, How much value is the minimum about PVDD CAP on my application?

  • Hi Steven,

As to the decoupling cap for PVDD, please refer to 10.1.2 Power Supply Decoupling in the data sheet:

To ensure high efficiency, low THD, and high PSRR, proper power supply decoupling is necessary. Noise

transients on the power supply lines are short duration voltage spikes. These spikes can contain frequency

components that extend into the hundreds of megahertz. The power supply input must be decoupled with some

good quality, low ESL, Low ESR capacitors larger than 22 μF. These capacitors bypasses low frequency noise to

the ground plane. For high frequency decoupling, place 1-μF or 0.1-μF capacitors as close as possible to the

    PVDD pins of the device.

    Regards,

    Alix Wan.
