TLV320ADC3001: I2S Data has DC Offset

Part Number: TLV320ADC3001

I am using the TLV320ADC3001 with a mono single ended ac coupled source connected to IN1L(P). I have it configured to I2S 24 bit mode. With no input signal the voltage at IN1L(P) is around 1.35V as I would expect. However, the data values I see are around 0x01700, not hovering around zero as I would expect. It feels like the ADC is giving me the dc voltage at the input.

  • Hi, John,

Welcome to E2E, thanks for your interest in our devices.

There is a variation ofthe offset spec of the ADCs in the ‘ADC3001, this spec is not characterized as it varies depending each device and application. This variation is related to the ADC behavior. A measure that usually is recommended to compensate the offset is to use the dither control register (page 1 / register 26); this register allows to modify the offset of each channel. Another possible solution would be to add a HP filter with the available biquads in the device to remove the DC offset.
