PCM2902C: SPDIF to ANALOG with volume Control

Part Number: PCM2902C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DIR9001, TAS5756M

Hello,

I need to use the PCM2902C without USB.

This device have a volume control and SPDIF input that is great for my application.

Is it possible to use this device for convert the SPDIF signal to analog and use the HID function for volume control?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Davy

  • Hi, Davide,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the PCM2902C without USB interface. The S/PDIF input is internally mapped to the audio out which goes to the USB host. The S/PDIF output streams the same content of the analog output, which comes from the USB interface.

  • Hi Diego,

    thanks for your reply.
Can you suggest me a solution?

I think to use a DIR9001 to convert s/pdif to I2S and a TAS5756M as volume control and amplifier.

What do you think about that?

    Thanks.

  • Hi, Davy,

Thanks for the feedback. Your solution seems suitable, please just consider that the TAS5756M does not have hardware-controlled volume control.

  • Hi Diego,

thanks for your reply. Yes, I read the datasheet and the volume must be controlled via I2C.

    Thanks again.
