PCM2912A: MIC portion is not Working

Part Number: PCM2912A

Hi,

I am using PCM29112A  IC in my design for the dock application. In this head phone portion is working fine but mic is Not working.

Issue:

  • PCM2912A is enumerated and can see in device manager.
  • Connected the head phone on the jack and hearing the audio play back without any issue.
  • If i connect the mic, PC is not able to hear anything from the mic
    • Sometimes i can see that message popup saying that your mic picking up a lot of noise. ( From skype)
    • Sometimes i can see that message from the PC saying " PC cannot hear fully" while doing configuration.

Queries:

  • Attached schematic and please review and provide feedback.
  • Do i need to load any f/w before i use this part?
  • Mic out and vbias are shorted and directly connected to combo audio jack. Is it okay to directly connect to jack?
  • What should i do to make both audio and mic working on a combo jack?

  • Hi, Vetrivel,

The PCM2912A does not require any firmware load as it uses the native USB audio class driver to operate. By default, this device can be used for a mic and headphone operation. The schematic seems fine overall, the mic should work properly assuming the headset plug has the mic on the second ring.

Can you please share how the PCM2912A is being detected by the Operating System?. What is the configuration you are doing when getting the "PC cannot hear fully" message?. Have you experienced this issue across different boards?.
