LM4666: Queries

Part Number: LM4666
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2006D1, TPA2005D1, TPA2012D2

Hi Team,

One of my customers wants to use LM4666 as amplifier for 1W 8 ohm speakers( 2 in No.)

The input is analog coming from SOC which supports 100-200mW for speaker.

Following are the queries:

  1. The output power of LM4666 is 1.2W @5V supply. We are planning to connect 2 nos 1W, 8ohm speaker. Whether LM4666 will support the same.

 2. Input voltage range for analog input pin is not mentioned in LM4666 datasheet(Only absolute maximum information is there). Please share the same.

Regards,

Harmeet

  • Hi Harmeet,

    1. I don't understand very well, so Do you mean to connect 2 speakers at the same output? If so, this device is designed to handle one speaker.
    2. Unfortunately, this data is not available. It is quite difficult to find this kind of information as this is an old device. Keep in mind that the input voltage shouldn't exceed the power supply.

You could also have a look at the following devices: TPA2005D1 and TPA2006D1 as they are similar to LM4666, but they are newer devices.

  • Hi Jose,

The customer wants to connect two speakers but at two outputs.

Either they require two mono or can use stereo device with two outputs.

Is it possible to get  the input data by reverse calculation as there are two gain options available 6dB and 12dB?

    Regards,

    Harmeet

  • Hi Harmeet,

The customer could use two TPA2005D1 and TPA2006D1 or could use TPA2012D2 as this device is a stereo Class-D amplifier.
You can refer the next Application Report where you can find how to calculate the gain.
