PCM1864: BLCK and LRCLK connection to the Audio Microcontroller

Part Number: PCM1864
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5728, TIDEP-0088

Hi-
I am using the circular microphone array reference board from TI using PCM1864. I have couple of questions in terms of connecting the Circular microphone array board to the AM5728's I2S interface.

a )  I have connected BCLK from microphone array board to the McASP2_ACLKX.  Is it the right connection?

  • Since in our design,  AM572x is a McASP slave - McASP2 is supposed to receive the bit clock. Should i configure the pin to receive mode?
b) I have connected LRCLK from microphone array board to McASP2_ACLKR. Again , is it the right connection or should i connect the LRCLK to MCASP2_FSR in AM5728 EVM
Thanks for the help,
Lenin
  • Hi Lenin,

You are correct. The CMB board has DSP header which has BCK and LRCK signals which can be connected to the AM5728 I2S interface. In addition, below table lists the rest of the signals that you can interface with the CMB to communicate w. the PCM186x to configure the registers -

The companion TI-Design for CMB is TIDEP-0088. Please refer to it for more insight as well. I can also provide you sample reference configuration for the PCM186x if you want. We configure one of the devices as MASTER and other SLAVE.

    Best regards,
    Ravi

  • Hi Ravi-
Thanks for the info. So, to get the answer- Is my connection of hooking up BLCK to MCASP_CLKX of AM5728 correct?
And also- for LRCLK- is my connection to hook up to the MCASP_CLKR correct?

can you please provide a sample reference configuration?
    Thanks for the help-
    Lenin
