TLV320AIC3254: PLL settings

Part Number: TLV320AIC3254
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200AUDBOOST

We are using the CC3200AUDBOOST for a audio over RF project and have some questions:

-Could you confirm that the range of J is according to this post:  The post is 3 years old and the documentation is not updated. If J have to be larger than 4, what happens if set to lower?

- What happens if equation (20) on page 78 in is not true?

- I tried the GUI to calculate the PLL numbers but it looks like it require a EM plugged in. Do we have a tool that work without any hardware connected?

  • Hi, Ter,

    Please refer to below comments.

-The value range for the configuration of J PLL coefficient goes from 1 to 63 as this is the possible register writes, however, the PLL requires J coefficient to be between 4 and 55 when  D=0, and between 4 and 11 when  D is not 0.

-If the conditions for the PLL are not met, degradation on the audio performance of the part could happen.

-It is possible to use the AIC3204 GUI without the EVM to configure and play around with the PLL coefficients. I think you may have an issue where the controls of the GUI are not shown, this happens when the software is not run as administrator. Once the GUI is executed as admin, the Digital Settings: Clocks/Interface window should be accessible.
