LM48100Q-Q1: Reset default configuration

Part Number: LM48100Q-Q1

Dear sir,

Our customer is using an audio amp, LM48100QMHX/NOPB.

They are concerning about the audio playback if the MCU is dead.

In the current architecture, MCU setup the audio amplifier to amplify a signal provided by the HDA codec or the MCU DAC.

If the MCU is dead, the audio amplifier is never configured by the MCU, the audio amplifier stay with the reset configuration.

We want to know, if after a reset one of the two audio inputs of the amplifier is selected and able to amplify a signal.

What is the default register value? I cannot find in the datasheet.

Thank you very much for your support.

  • Hi CK,

The default state of the device would be to disconnect both inputs (Mute).

  • Dear Ivan,

Is it possible to change the default value?

Or can we use a memory such as EEPROM to write the register value?

Or is there any other P2P audio amp which the default register value is not mute?

Please give me some suggestion. Thank you very much.

  • CK,

Usually audio devices default state is to be muted or disabled, this is in order to start in a low power consumption state.
You could use a memory to store the initialization register values, however an I2C master would be needed to read the values from memory and send them to the audio device.
I no I2C control is possible, perhaps a HW controlled device would be a better fit.

  • Dear Ivan,

Would you please suggest a HW controlled device??

A mono audio power amplifier features dual audio inputs that can be multiplexed to the output.

And the spec is similar to the LM48100Q-Q1.

I can't seem to find a suitable one.

Would you please help?? Thank you very much.
