TAS2560: Using tas2560 to driver 16Ohm load

Part Number: TAS2560

Hello,

My customer want to use TAS2560 to drive 16Ohm load. But I found that the software only support 8Ohm load max.

Is there any risk of destroying the load using 8Ohm to evaluate 16Ohm's toad?

If I want to get loudest sound, what spec should I adjust except gain? Is there any risk?

  • Hi Jeff,

I would not expect the speaker of 16-ohm to be damaged. However the I/V sense feedback might not work fine. The device need to know the load impedance to adjust the Full-Scale Current as below table.

If you don't need the I/V sense then it should be OK to use 16-ohm speaker.
