TPA3220: 2Vrms input vs 3.0Vrms

Part Number: TPA3220

in the fatasheet we have a mention that input should be 2.0Vrms. My analog output (fully differential) is 3.0Vrms. Can I use the tpa3220 with a 3Vrms ? (with the right gain and voltage at 25V)

Also I assume that gain x input should match the voltage rail and therefore I need about 14-16db and I am not sure how to do it

Hello,
The max input range is defined to +/-2.8V in the datasheet, please make sure the input signle is within this range.

OK but that wont solve the problem , the minimum gain is 20db and voltage is 26V.

At 2.8Vvrms you are passing the voltage rail.. can we change the gain for less than 20db ?

Hi,

So to answer the questions, yes you can lower the gain setting below 20dB but we don't recommend injecting a 3Vrms input signal into the amplifier. As shown in the table from the TPA3220 datasheet, you can bring the gain down to 18dB and have a 2Vrms input signal.
