TPA3132D2: bootstrap cap deviation question

Part Number: TPA3132D2

Hi,

I have a new TPA3132D2 design laid out to use 220nf/16V bootstrap capacitors in 0201 package. I have used these capacitors in a different design before but I cannot now find any more of them for sale - they show out of stock at all my distributors. So my question is, for this non-production, lab-only design, can I get away with using a lower value? I can still buy 150nF/16V 0201 for example. Or is it safe to use 10V caps? The supply voltage will range from 7.5V to 20V nominal.

I am trying to avoid having to parallel-stack two capacitors at each location as these are very small parts.

Many thanks for any advice you can provide,

Peter Arnold

  • Hi Peter,
Please don't use 150nF caps - too low bootstrap caps could introduces the over-discharging for some extreme cases. You could use a little higher value caps, e.g. 330nF or 470nF. Or you could use two paralleled 110nF caps.
    Best regards,
