Figure 9.2.3 (LM386 with 50 gain) shows the 10 mfd capacitor as non polarized. Figure 9.2.2 ( LM386 with Gain = 200) shows the 10 mfd cap. as polarized.

I want to use the 9.2.3 configuration is the non polarized correct or is it a typo?

Hi!

Both configurations are correct. You may use a polarized or a non-polarized capacitor between the gain pins. However, due to internal circuitry, when a polarized capacitor is being used, the (+) terminal of capacitor must be connected to pin 1 and (-) terminal to pin 8 as shown in Figure 9.2.2.

Hi Luis,

Thank you for answering my question, a 10 MFD non polarized cap would be too large to fit on the circuit board.
