TLV320AIC3106: TLV320AIC3106

Part Number: TLV320AIC3106

I would like to know how much fully-differential input and output the component have.
according to page 15 (datasheet), it can have Three fully differential line output drivers and according to page 33, it can have only two fully differential line output drivers.
On page 31 it is mentioned that it has the ability to mix up to three fully-differential analog inputs into each ADC PGA is these the case?

  • S e,

There are a total of 4 differential inputs,  however two of these inputs (LINE1L and LINE1R) can be used to feed either PGA.  So while you can have 3 differential inputs feeding one pga,  you couldn't have 3 independent differential inputs feeding Both PGAs.  does that make sense?

There are 3 differential line outputs, and then the HPOUTs can be configured as differential outputs, making a total of 5 possible differential outputs.

I've attached the functional block diagram from the datasheet.  Which itself answers all of your questions.

  • In my design, I need to have 3 differential inputs (up to two simultaneously), and 3 differential output (up to two simultaneously).
According to your email, it is possible for my design(please correct me if I’m wrong).

    Thanks

  • Hi Shay,

Based on my understanding of what you've told me, it does sound like the TLV320AIC3106 would work.

  • Hi Steve,

In my design, I need to have 4 differential inputs (up to three simultaneously), and 3 differential output (up to two simultaneously).

Is it possible with the TLV320AIC3106?

  • S e,

there are 4 differential inputs on the AIC3106. To be clear, there are only 2 ADCs, so if you need 3 independent simultaneous inputs, (meaning that you are not mixing 2 signals before the ADC) then the AIC3106 will not do this. But I assume that is not what you're doing because you know that the AIC3106 only has 2 ADCs.

You can have up to 5 differential outputs on the AIC3106 (the ones I circled in RED above) the HP outputs can be differential or Single ended. it just depends on how you set them up, but either you have 4 SE outputs or 2 Differential outputs. the Mono, LEFT_LOP/M, and Right_LOP/M outputs are always Differential.
Again, there are only two DACs. So if you need 3 simultaneous outputs that are Independent of one another, that would not be possible. Again, I assume that is not the case for you since you already know the AIC3106 only has 2 DACs.

    best regards,
