TAS5805M: PVDD Capacitor selection

Part Number: TAS5805M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5805

Hi team,

Our customer wants to know how to choose the PVDD decoupling capacitor and how to calculate the minimum value of the capacitor.

Thanks and best regards.

  • Hi Ella,

For TAS5805, please see page 77 of datasheet with description below:
The power supply input must be decoupled with some good quality, low ESL, Low ESR capacitors larger than 22 μF. These capacitors bypasses low frequency noise to the ground plane. For high frequency decoupling, place 1-μF or 0.1-μF capacitors as close as possible to the PVDD pins of the device.

In addition, for woofer with big power, larger than 100uF decoupling cap is recommended for better sound quality.

BWT, an application note for commom class D decoupling cap analysis is for your reference: www.ti.com/.../slyt199.pdf
