Linux/TLV320ADC3101: TLV320ADC3101

Part Number: TLV320ADC3101

Tool/software: Linux

Hello team,

We have below questions need your reply:

  1. Do you have power net(AVDD, DVDD, IOVDD) max current test results.
  2. Could you please release the TLV320ADC3101 linux driver?
  3. Do I need to connect the MCLK for clock synchronize, or BCLK in I2S is enough?
  4. Will it cause any problems if I only connect the BCLK instead of MCLK?

  • Hi, Walt,

1- The current consumption of this device is specified in Supply current section of table 8.5.

2- Currently we are not supporting Linux driver development for this device, but there is a driver for the ADC3101 in the web which can be used as starting point. Please use this link to find it.

3- The BCLK form the I²S interface can be used as the source for the internal clock tree.

4- As long as the ADC is properly configured to use BCLK as the input for the clock tree, there is no problem with leaving MCLK floating.

  • Hi Diego,

Our product only have this codec.

The link you provide is create by TOMTOM company instead TI.
Do you mean that we can use ADC3101 driver for our product launch too?

Does TI have any plan to release TLV320ADC3101 driver in yourself?

    Best Regards,
    Fish
  • Hi, Fish,

That driver I pointed out can be used as reference, as you mention it was not created by TI and we cannot guarantee its fully operation, but we know that customers have used it in the past as a good starting point.

  • Hi Quote,

Does TI have any plan to release TLV320ADC3101 driver in yourself?

To avoid the legal problem in future, could you kindly provide your own driver?

    Thanks.

    Fish.

  • Hi, Fish,

At this moment we don't have a plan to release a driver for this part.

The only driver I know that you can use as reference right now is the one I pointed before.

  • Hi Diego,

We are still concerning about the legal problem.
As you said, you also can't guarantee it, then why don't you create your own driver?

Also we want to know, since we can only use the reference for starting, will you support us if it comes any problems? Such as bring up problems or setting problems?

    Looking forward for your reply.

    Fish
  • Fish,

Currently we are not supporting Linux drivers for our devices, that's why we are not developing drivers; we can only offer the reference to the existing drivers we know customers have used in the past. We can help with device configuration questions and application level concerns, but supporting and debugging drivers is something we cannot support.
